U20 IRB World Cup update # 3

 The Upsets Continue…..

Friday afternoon didn’t go well for us as those who were watching at home will have seen. We were turned over by the Argies 15-3 in a game played in terrible conditions on a wet and boggy pitch…perfect conditions for the Argies. We were out muscled in the tight and failed to gain any significant field position and exert pressure at their end of the field. Missing the bonus point may have sealed our fate. Unfortunately we are now relying on us beating France and the Scots beating Argentina to go through to the semifinals…not impossible but now out of our control. Hopefully the upsets continue and Scotland do us a favour by beating Argentina. Tournament favourites New Zealand suffered their first ever defeat at this tournament going down 9-6 to Wales on the same field we played on while France just beat Scotland 30-29 and the English made a late rally to get past Ireland. Fingers crossed results go our way and we have a chance to make the semi’s. For now it’s back to preparing for France on Tuesday which will be played at the Cape Town Stadium built for the 2010 Football World Cup. We are expecting to return to winning ways!!
